Michael Walton has been the President of First Federal Savings since 2024 and added the CEO position with the retirement of Board Chair, Andrew Perry. Michael is a 2026 Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) 40 Under 40 Community Bank Leader. The prestigious national recognition highlights 40 emerging community banking leaders from across the country who are helping shape the present and future of the industry through leadership, innovation, and service. Honorees are selected based on their character, leadership, community involvement, and innovation. Michael was recognized by ICBA for his commitment to making customers and employees feel heard, his leadership in fostering a culture of volunteerism at the bank, and his active involvement in the Midcoast community.

A lifelong member of the Bath community, Michael believes that the strength of community banking comes from relationships and our availability as financial resource. From Bath to Boothbay Harbor and Damariscotta, this is the core of his vision for customers, employees, local businesses, and the communities the bank serves. He is committed to ensuring that First Federal Savings remains a locally focused institution where people are known, their voices are heard, and relationships matter.
Michael’s connection to Bath began at Morse High School, where he received the Maine Principal’s Award, was selected for the McDonald’s All-Academic Team, and graduated among the top 10 students in his class. He went on to attend Bentley University, studying General Business and Computer Information Systems. Since joining the First Federal Savings family, he also spent 3 years completing the Graduate School of Banking in Colorado and completed the Leadership Maine program in 2023.
Michael is deeply involved in the Midcoast community. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Bath Area Family YMCA, Maine’s First Ship, and the Bath Rotary Club, where he recently completed three consecutive years as President.
